Chief Operating Officer (COO)

 

Tech2Peace is a joint Israeli-Palestinian NGO working with Palestinians and Israelis, to leverage technology and entrepreneurship training, conflict dialogue sessions, and social activities, along with continued community-building events.

Tech2Peace aims to help create the foundations for peace by building and training a cooperative community of diverse young Palestinian and Israeli leaders who influence their societies and establish lasting social and professional collaborations involving technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Founded in 2017, Tech2Peace has reached hundreds of beneficiaries from diverse backgrounds and ideologies that continue to engage in a vibrant alumni community.

Role Overview

Make your mark on Israeli and Palestinian societies by joining the close-knit team at Tech2Peace as the organization’s Chief Operating Ocer. Reporting to the CEO, the COO serves as a key leadership team member helping lead the organization and ensuring its financial and logistical management. In partnership with the CEO, the COO will directly oversee the operations and financial portfolios and several team members of the organization.

  • Ensure the back-end, day-to-day operations and of the organization are best in class, including excellent execution of Tech2Peace’s work plan as defined in the annual gantt.

  • Work closely with the CEO in several aspects of nonprofit executive leadership and management, including but not limited to: board relations, communications, financial and operations oversight and execution, and fostering a culture of excellence.

  • Plan and implement Tech2Peace operational work plan to meet the organization’s annual goals, in accordance with its strategy.

  • Manage marketing and participants recruitment eorts for Tech2Peace’s programs, overseeing the application and approval process (working closely with and supporting the recruitment team).

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Provide strategic insight during board meetings and ensure materials are prepared, shared and presented appropriately.

  • Manage external finance, legal, HR and service providers to ensure the smooth flow of regular organizational needs, including but not limited to recruiting, payroll, PTO approvals, financial statements review, audit prep, budget maintenance, logistical services, and other vendors to meet needs of the organization, board and sta.

  • Ensure the consistent use of knowledge management and data systems, thinking creatively with team members to consider the adoption of new tools and platforms to ensure sustainability between sta transitions and as programs evolve.

  • Manage the day to day operations of the organization, including financial and logistical management and execution oversight.

  • Manage the organization’s programming logistics from soup to nuts, including vendor management, recruitment oversight, bookings etc.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • This individual is a natural leader, experienced manager, resourceful, dynamic and self-driven individual who has an exceptional attention to detail, works well under pressure and can lead teams to solve problems and meet deadlines, even in an ever-changing political environment.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in either international non-profits, foundations, community outreach, and/or grassroots organizing.

  • 5+ years of professional experience in operations management and logistics.

  • Seasoned manager with an acute sensitivity to diverse work culture and

    people operations.

  • Strong working knowledge of diverse organizational functions such as HR,

    finance, and external communications.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and interpersonal skills and the ability

    to work well and maintain an excellent attention to detail under pressure.

  • Previous knowledge of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and a sophisticated

    understanding of international and U.S. political dynamics is preferred.

  • Passion for Tech2Peace’s mission and vision. Belief that our work isn’t done

    until every person is connected to the Tech2Peace vision and that the

    community is thriving.

  • Ability to collaborate across diverse teams both inside and outside of

    Tech2Peace. Experience in motivating dierent personnel and working with volunteers.

  • Creative problem-solving.

  • Fluency in English (Hebrew/Arabic preferred)

 

Location:

Flexible. Can work mostly from home; some travel is required in Israel (mostly Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv) and Area C in the West Bank.

Scope:
The position is a full-time job with changing workloads throughout the year. Standard work hours, with the need to participate occasionally in evening meetings, events, or phone calls in irregular hours given the nature of the program.

 

During alumni activities, full availability is required, including 24/7 availability during activities (usually long weekend or one-day activities, with several 2-week seminars each year).
